deep somatic Exploration with
Abigail Rose Clarke
Anatomy & physiology taught with magic and mysticism - this is what you wish your college A&P class had been like.
Embodied Anatomy Sessions focus on a specific part of human anatomy, representing rigorous research and decades of study. But this is anatomy and physiology as taught by a poet.
This is anatomy and physiology that rejects the idea of the body as machine, and instead returns us to recognizing ourselves as kin to forests and oceans, and full of so much exquisite beauty.
In learning our own anatomy and physiology in this way, we become an embodied source of our own awe and curiosity.
In each Embodied Anatomy Session, you’ll learn the structure and function of this part of your body, and how it relates to the body as a whole.
You’ll also be guided in a somatic practice that allows you to actually sense and feel these parts of your body.
More than just learning some new facts and ideas, these sessions are an invitation to be present in your body in a radically different way.
These sessions are for every level of experience:
Somatic practitioners and bodyworkers can take them as a source of continuing education, and to learn aspects of anatomy perhaps not taught in their trainings.
Doctors, nurses and other medical professionals share that they rekindle an awe of anatomy that had gotten lost in the daily grind of working in health care.
People entirely new to any sort of embodiment practice share that this is an accessible, yet utterly awe-inspiring invitation to learn about their bodies.
People struggling with health issues are able to understand their body in different ways, no longer an adversary but as a companion in need of advocacy.
Each Embodied Anatomy Session listed below is available for instant download, along with the presentation slides.

The breath is not work, and the body is not a machine in need of regulation. The breath is magic.
In this special Embodied Anatomy session, you’ll learn the anatomy and physiology of the breath as living poetry. You’ll learn how to practice the breath in a way that weaves you into deeper relationship with the living world, and your own living body.
You’ll learn:
The amazing origin of oxygen, and why breathing is time and space travel
The astounding size of the lungs
The relationship between the lungs, heart, and breathing diaphragm
The movement of the thoracic cavity
And importantly, how to breathe with a sense of ease and belonging within your own body.
This is not ‘breathwork’ to try and achieve a certain goal like greater calm or better productivity. This is the experience of the breath as both awe-expanding and deep solace. Taught using Abigail’s GROW/L Method, this is an invitation to embody your own anatomy in ways that are poetic and profound.
You will be sent a PDF with the link to view the recording and the presentation slides immediately upon purchase.

The elegance of the anatomy of the pelvis is often overlooked, or given the burden of being a place where we store all our traumas.
We might have trauma woven into the tissues of our pelvis. But we also have ancient joy. Hips don’t lie, like Shakira said.
In this Embodied Anatomy session, you’ll learn:
The anatomy of the pelvis and the low back, which includes an amazing tapestry of nerves, muscles, veins and arteries, and organs. You will leave with an increased awareness of the magic of this part of your own anatomy.
In learning the anatomy, you’ll be better able to embody the movement of the pelvis without yanking and pulling on the bones in an effort to constantly “open” the hips. Instead, you’ll learn tools to increase the grace and fluidity of all types of movement.
Embodying the stability and support of the pelvis can create an ease of posture and movement that is truly delicious.
While we can’t promise that this session will magically eliminate back pain or other issues involving the pelvis, in understanding the anatomy you will be better able to advocate for proper care, and better equipped to prevent injury at the gym, yoga or dance practice, and in your day to day life.
Taught using Abigail’s GROW/L Method, this is an invitation to embody your own anatomy in ways that are poetic and profound.
This session includes a guided somatic practice that includes movement. As with all of Abigail’s sessions, the movement is optional and includes as many adaptations as possible to ensure that no matter your ability, you can experience the practice fully.
Members of Anchor Community and paid subscribers to Abigail’s Substack Bones Made of Stardust are able to come to this and all Embodied Anatomy sessions at no cost.
These sessions are not meant to replace qualified medical advice.

A GROW/L Embodied Anatomy Session
The skin holds us in relationship with the world. Separate, but inextricably linked with the air, with the water, and with the land. The skin holds us in relationship with places we might never visit and people will will never meet. In a world that breathes together, everything touches through the skin.
The skin is an exquisite teacher of boundaries. How we might hold each other in community without losing ourselves. How we can discern between what is released and what is accepted. When we find ourselves overwhelmed by what to do, by who to trust or where to go, the skin can offer beautiful, potent guidance.
We are held by the skin, our largest organ.
Held in awe. Held in wonder. Held in curiosity.
In this Embodied Anatomy Session, part of the GROW/L Embodied Anatomy Series, you will learn of the fascinating anatomy and physiology of the skin, and what we can learn from our own largest organ about togetherness, separation, and relationship.
Participants in the live session shared notes after the practice:
Thank you for the sweet exploration of our skin!I love the physiology aspect and seeing the layers, not just in our skin but also in our feelings, thoughts. So wonderful…and deep thanks for all your work.
That was incredibly healing and profound. I’m a photographer and am constantly working with my clients to be in their bodies and let that be witnessed. The skin is particularly relevant to this work.
Deep gratitude, for the embodied poetry and the depth of the journey.
I gently cried my way through this class today. Thank you for today, it has allowed me to shed tears that I have not been able to release all week. Your words always land in my body at a depth I did not know was possible.
Abigail, thank you so much for this experience - this is my first time with you in person.True magic, and full gratitude.Thank you thank you.

Interstitium: from the latin inter: “between” and sisto: place.
Interstitium: The between place.
The interstitium is the between place between tissue and blood vessel. It’s small enough that until 2018, it was thought to be a sort of “wall” of collagen. But then researchers were able to use advanced imaging systems that saw it for what it is:
A vast, body-wide network of fluid-filled spaces.
The amount of fluid in the interstitium is roughly 20% of your body’s weight. So, while the interstitium might be microscopic, it is massive in its entirety.
And something profound happens when we give our attention to it.
In INNER SPACE: Embodied Anatomy of the Interstitium, you’ll learn the fundamentals of the anatomy and physiology of this vast body-wide system.
You’ll also experience what becomes possible when you actually feel it.
This session is part of an expanding Embodied Anatomy Series. Other sessions include BREATH MAGIC: Embodied Anatomy of the Lungs, LIVING EARTH: Embodied Anatomy of the Pelvis, and HELD: Embodied Anatomy of the Skin.
These sessions are meant to inform you about the awe-inspiring wonder of your own anatomy and physiology. Each session includes detailed information about the anatomy, followed by a guided somatic practice.
Once you register, you’ll be sent a link to view the session. You may rewatch the video as often as you wish.
Registration is open to anyone, regardless of somatic or movement experience. I have heard from true beginners to medical doctors and everything in between that these sessions are full of incredible new discoveries about the body.

“I’ve been an LMT for over 25 years. Your language is a huge influence in how I tell the stories of our bodies to my clients and class participants.” - Jane Graybill, LMT
“As someone who leads somatic and contemplative practices, I really appreciate this session on the interstitium. You lean way more into science than I do and that was a treat. Thank you for linking all the articles, such wonderful resources.
My own somatic experience of the interstitium is very rich and still unfolding. Thank you so much! -Julie McCarter, LCSW”
