SOMATICS & EMBODIED ANATOMY

CONNECTION IN COMMUNITY

ANCHOR COMMUNITY

Anchor Community is an ongoing somatic learning space rooted in embodied anatomy.

Together, we find awe and curiosity within our own bodies, and within the natural world.

Practicing together, we experience the transformation that is only possible in community.

Awe and curiosity create possibilities.

Together, we create possibilities.

    Science-Based Somatics

Embodied anatomy and physiology grounded in rigorous research, explored through somatic poetry. You’ll learn advanced anatomy and physiology, but because this is embodied anatomy, what you learn becomes a spell within you. Learning the nature of your tissues and cells in this way is transformational.

  • Self-paced Learning

Twice-weekly live sessions and an extensive library of practices means you can fully indulge and soak up as much as you desire. Combined with regular meeting in community means there’s no rush, and you’re never behind.

  • Community REsonance

Anchor Community is oriented around relationship with Abigail Rose Clarke and the other community members. You are part of a community of people engaged in practices together.

  • DEEPENING PRACTICE

The combination of self-paced learning and the resonance of ongoing community means we can go deeper in our practice than we could on on our own. Whether you are new to somatics or an experienced practitioner, this style of learning expands over time, opening you to profound depth and spaciousness within your own body and mind.

Anchor Community is for people who root themselves in both science and magic.

Anchor Community is for people who are able to hold nuance, who understand that life is always full of paradox, that beauty is always here, even in the face of unimaginable ugliness.

Anchor Community is for people who are willing to feel the grief of centuries, and who are still, somehow, able to love the world.

The practice with my body that I’ve cultivated and deepened in Anchor is one of the most magical things in my life and I am so grateful for you. This experience has been wild and almost fully played out in my body as things- old traumas and new hurts- move up and out and through because you’ve helped me understand so much more. Thank you forever
— Abby, Anchor Member since 2024
I joined Anchor because I was feeling anxious and uneasy, and tired. Of all the many techniques I’ve explored, this has been the most practical, easy to assimilate, and has produced measurable results in my vital sign measurements.
— Rachelle, Anchor Member since 2019
I have studied meditation for over 30 years, and this has been the most profound and life-changing practice I have found.
— Debra, Anchor Member since 2019

WHO THIS IS FOR:

Anchor Community is for all levels of experience, all bodies, all genders.

If you are an experienced somatic practitioner, this is a way to deepen your practice. If you learned somatics that was primarily energetic, or seemed to focus entirely on the nervous system, this is a way to widen your understanding of embodied anatomy.

If you have an established meditation practice but it feels like something is missing, this could very well be the missing piece. It has been for many members in Anchor Community.

If you are entirely new to any body-based practice, you are warmly welcomed here. I make sure each practice is accessible to all levels of experience.

And if you have access needs, please let me know how I can ensure the practice is accessible to you. We currently have a member who is blind, and several who are navigating chronic pain. This is not ablism hiding behind the veil of wellness. When I say every body is welcome here, I truly mean it.

This is somatics grounded by science and expanded by magic and mystery.

What to expect:

I offer two live sessions each week. Each session is recorded and added to our extensive practice library that is included in your membership.

Each session begins with an exploration of embodied anatomy.

At times, we dive into details and really satisfy our nerdy curiosity. We might be exploring the cell, or the intricacies of respiration. We might be exploring the anatomy of the heart, or skin, or pelvis, or a facet of embryology. Members can always request specific topics.

Other times, we might focus on the foundational practices of learning how to yield to gravity and the web of relationships that hold us, both seen and unseen, so that we can escape the cycle of collapsing under stress and overwhelm.

Each session includes a guided practice, followed by time for us to share our experience. Community sharing is part of the potent magic of Anchor Community: in listening to others share, and by giving words to our own experience, the transcendence we find in practice is able to take root.

The practice is transformational.

Week by week, we are changed.

Anchor Community creates Awe.

As we practice, we discover awe here in our own cells.

This awe is not based on what the body can do, or what the body looks like.

This is an awe in what we are, at our most fundamental.
This is an awe that is life-changing.

Before Anchor, I was experiencing an unhealthy level of withdrawal, anxiety, and overwhelm regarding the outside world. I struggled with letting go into a relaxed state of being which affected the quality of my breathing and ability to more fully take in the world around me. I am more present with my feelings and physical sensations with less story attached. I have a greater capacity to be with what is uncomfortable and not withdraw or shut down. I feel support that does not depend on anyone else or on me being a certain way.
Before I joined Anchor, I was feeling disconnected from myself. All brain and emotion, but very little connection with my body. Overwhelmed by the news cycle and folks’ reactions to their own perceptions. Anchor has felt like a remembering. Breathing, standing, moving. Relaxing into my actual physical parts... blood, bone, connective tissues. Becoming more part of nature. Learning how my body parts are connected and support me. I’ve learned how to hold myself, move differently, walk differently! It’s a daily practice now. It opens up more space for me. I can give myself space, even if it feels like others don’t want to.
One of the things I have begin to notice in recent years is the fact that I am almost always unconsciously living in the future- anticipating, worrying, often fearing- a few days, weeks, or longer in the future, or sometimes it’s even just a few moments in the future. There’s some part of me that is always trying to protect myself from being surprised by something unexpected. And it’s so hard to remember to just bring myself back. Anchor has helped me learn to STAY with my body.

About your facilitator,

Abigail ROse Clarke:

My professional bio:

Abigail is the author of the international bestseller Returning Home to Our Bodies: Reimagining the Relationship Between Our Bodies and the World and The Body Oracle Deck: 80 Invitations for Rediscovering Enchantment With Your Body and the Living World. A distinguished somatic educator and facilitator with a rich background in movement studies and embodied healing practices, her work centers on reconnecting individuals to their bodily wisdom as a means to foster personal and collective transformation.

But in Anchor Community, I get to be more than just the professional side of myself that is shared with the wider world.

In Anchor Community, I bring my full self, which means I often show up with dirt under my fingernails having just come in from the garden. I show up grief-wrenched by the horrors of the world. My dogs often gently snore in the background.

I bring my newest, most emergent ideas to this space. Practices that later become beloved across the world have their beginning in this home of Anchor Community.

I started Anchor Community in 2019. I named it “Anchor” because I wanted a tether in a world that felt continuously out of control. Then 2020 happened, and the name felt prescient. What a gift it was to have a community to anchor into, week after week, when nothing felt familiar or safe.

I have been so fortunate to see Anchor Community be a continuing source of grounding inspiration for so many, including myself.

I facilitate this space, but I am also transformed by it, and by my relationships with the people who join me here. It is an honor to offer this space, and it is a joy to welcome you to join us.

In Anchor Community, we recognize that we belong to the future we long for*, and it is our responsibility to breathe life into it, now.

*The sentence “we belong to the future we long for” was coined by past Anchor participant Maryla Rose back in 2020, and has become a guiding light in my practice ever since.
