Unsilenced Bodies: personal online writing retreat
The body is home and oracle. To unsilence the body is inherently subversive. To give the body a voice is a revolution.
When we write from the body, our writing becomes electric. Our words become bolts of lightning, illuminating truths that might otherwise remain hidden. Whether or not we choose to share our writing with others, writing to unsilence the body means deepening intimacy with the reality of our one body-home, with its needs, and with its electric magic, power, and possibilities.
Come write toward the insights that only the body could reveal.
Join authors Abigail Rose Clarke and Catherine Simone Gray for a unique online writing retreat.
The retreat was offered live in October, 2025, and sessions are now available for on-demand study through November 15, 2025. Once you purchase, the recordings are yours to keep.
The retreat is offered in two parts: Day One, and Day Two, with the idea that you will give yourself 36 hours to write between sessions (starting Day One on Saturday morning and completing with Day Two on Sunday evening for example).
You will receive a plethora of writing exercises offered by these two celebrated and prolific writers to help unleash any ideas about what “good” writing needs to be. You will then be guided on a writing journey that will knit you into body and place.

In this online retreat, you will:
- be led through somatic and writing practices to orient to your body as a messenger and ally
- write as dialogue with land and body
- practice noticing and sitting with sensation as you try out new language for what you’re experiencing – and see what becomes possible when you do
- expand what we begin in the live sessions, coming deeper into relationship with body and place and writing as an embodiment practice
- find space to share writing, discoveries, and further curiosities in our closing session
- be guided into relationship with place and body as both source and solace for your writing practice
This online retreat is for you if:
You want to listen to the wisdom of your body.
You know nature has messages for you about how to survive, how to seed, how to repair, how to bloom.
You are curious about your embodiment and your creative life.
You are intimate with your body’s messages, but you want some new angles and insights.
You feel tension between pleasure and the world’s suffering.
You want to find time to get into your body, but everything else feels urgent and dire.
You love to write; or you don’t write at all.
All bodies are welcome, and all levels of writing experience or inexperience are encouraged to join us.
The full price of the workshop is $45
Members of Abigail’s somatic learning group Anchor Community and participants in Catherine’s Summer Bodies, Summer Fruits are able to join at the special rate of $36 for the full workshop. If you need the code re-sent, please email Abigail to ask for the code.
Our publisher, North Atlantic Books, has generously offered a 25% off coupon for both or either of our books for all who register for the course. That coupon will be sent to you upon registering.
